Drs. Roy Herndon and Mikhail Khankhasayev of the IICER were part of a U.S. Department of
Energy delegation that visited research and technology facilities located near St.
Petersburg and Ozersk, Russia in June of 1999. The purpose of this visit was to
learn first-hand about research on the separation and processing of nuclear waste
components that is being conducted in Russia in cooperation with scientists at U.S.
Department of Energy facilities.
