In March 1999, Dr. Mikhail Khankhasayev and Dr. Roy Herndon of the IICER participated as
members of a U.S. Department of Energy delegation to meet with Russian scientists and
officials concerning the IICER technical support for the Joint Coordinating Committee for
Environmental Restoration and Waste Management program. Meetings were held in St. Petersburg,
Russia at the V.G. Khlopin Radium Institute as well as in Moscow.
Other members of the delegation shown in the photo are Ms. Rebecca Longsworth (second from left) of Science
Applications International Corporation (SAIC) USA and Dr. Gregory Polyanichko (second from right),
a U.S. Department of Energy consultant in Moscow, with members of the Russian Research
Institute of Chemical Technology in Moscow.
